Ventilation systems comprise of various components. From the wall outlet, ducting, fire protection to internal inlet/outlet valves.

 

 

Outlets

• Gravity Flap Outlets
• Louvred Grilles
• Cowled Outlets
• Brick shaped Outlets

 

Gravity Flap Outlets - Eliminate backdraft creating a barrier preventing air going back into the house. Air resistance is increased and installation to exposed locations  is not reccomended due to excessive noise of the flaps oppening and closing.

 

Louvred Grilles - Are suitable for internal and external use with or without flyscreens. This type of outlet offers the least airflow resistance but has no provision to prevent backdraft.

 

Cowled Outlets - Provide the best protection against the effects of high winds and driving rains. Often these outlest include a damper to prevent air entering the house.

 

Brick Shaped Outlets - Designed to fit into a wall as part of the brickwork for internal or external use. Available with or without damper to prevent backdraft.

 

 

Ducting

Ducting is supplied in a number of different formats such as:

 

• Flat Channel Ducting
• Round Ducting Pipe
• Flexible Hoses

 

Flat Ducting - Designed with concelament in mind flat low profile ducting is is suited for installation on top of wall units or within ceiling voids and cavities. Flat ducting tends to come in differnt sizes depending on installation requirements.

 

Probably most important to note is the difference between vertical bends and horizontal bends. Vertical bends would be found at the end of a run when the channel needs to turn up or down whereas horizontal bends allow the run to turn left or right by 90 degrees. Sounds obvious but is relevant when ordering.

 

Round Ducting Pipe - Round ducting pipe is the most effecient of all systems with much reduced backpressure and improved airflow. Round ducting systems such as the Easpipe systems from Domus should be installed wherever no ducting restriction applies. Some versions such as Domos' Thermapipe come insulated for temperature control.
