RAL - Colour Space System
RAL is typically pronounced as a word "RAL" rather than the three letter acronym and refers to a colour from one of the three independant collections RAL Classic, RAL Effect and RAL Design. RAL is a worldwide colour standard used mostly in the varnish and powder coating industry. SDS - Schnell Drilling System
SDS pronounced as the acronym S. D. S. stands for Schnell Drilling System. SDS was a huge step forward for drills trying to penetrate hard materials such as concrete. Hammer drills tend to be high frequency low impact, where as SDS has a bigger impact but lower frequency and thus a better material fracture rate. SDS drill bits have a standard slotted guage shank made specifically for SDS drills. If you upgrade from a hammer drill to an SDS drill you will need to purchase new drill bits.
